Elyse’s work is oriented towards an understanding of where we’ve been in order to best inform where we need to go. Her work creating and sustaining new programs or events, supporting organizational change through a justice, equity, diversity and inclusion lens or advocating for paradigm shifts across the Outdoor Recreation Economy are all strong examples of her theoretical and practical positioning.

Through this orientation, she challenges herself and her collaborators to grapple with the past, however uncomfortable, in order to best understand its implications on current individual and community relationships. This allows Elyse to create a clear vision for pathways forward that have the ability to overcome myriad challenges while also fostering the skills and tools for those individuals and communities to sustain the work in the long term.
